For those of you who are not familiar with me, I’m Katie - the owner of Freebird Bridal. I started working in fashion a few years ago after leaving a job in the healthcare profession. You might be asking how I made my way from healthcare to the bridal industry. Well, it wasn't until my teen years that I really started to have an eye for fashion. I was drawn to all the unique textures, fabrics, and designs. I enjoyed searching for items that could portray my personality and yet have a distinct flair to stand out from the ordinary. However, I never thought about making a career out of this.
Now don’t get me wrong, there were many great aspects of being in healthcare. There is something deeply satisfying about tending to someone’s needs, reassuring them, and building up that relationship of trust with them. I believe that is why my transition into the bridal world was so easy. As I progressed in my healthcare career, I felt I was getting further away from people and quickly became burnt out. It was time for a change. A change where I could still make genuine connections and enjoy searching for that perfect fashion design while being MY own boss.
Shortly after I moved to Sioux City with my husband in 2018, I realized this community was missing that small, intimate, chic (sometimes quirky) bridal boutique. A boutique that challenges the traditional - showcasing bohemian-inspired dresses and unconventional fashion trends. A place that focuses on bringing out the best in people and taking the bride's individual disposition of themselves and translating that into their dream wedding dress. When the leap was taken to open Freebird Bridal in 2019, I had no idea the journey it was going to take me on, the people I’d meet, the stories I’d be lucky enough to be told, or even if our boutique would survive. Years later, I still dress brides and feel especially passionate about reassuring those who don’t believe in themselves (believe me: you are all absolutely wonderful and amazing). I love being a part of special memories that brides will take with them as they start the next chapter of their life.
And to add to the adventure, I've become a mom to three wonderful kids while running this business. Balancing the demands of motherhood and entrepreneurship has been a journey in itself. But just like helping brides find their dream dresses, being a mom has taught me to find the perfect balance, juggling the intricate textures of life and business with the same care and dedication that I've always poured into everything I do. It's another chapter of my life, full of love, patience, and the joy of creating special memories, both in my family and for the brides who walk through the doors of Freebird Bridal.

Jaclyn
I have found being a Freebird consultant to be such a fun and rewarding job! I truly look forward to working with brides, families, friends and students to find a dress that best suits their personality and needs. Along with this job, I’m a mental health therapist with Veterans here in Dakota Dunes, SD! There are definitely parallels between jobs and trying to help people feel their best. Since moving to the Sioux City area over a year ago when I got engaged, I found the process of preparing for a wedding to be wonderful, exciting, foreign, sometimes overwhelming, and yet beautiful. There is nothing like it! I got my wedding dress from Freebird, and it was perfect for me! I felt encouraged to use my experience to assist other brides in any way to help make their processes easier and in perspective. It can take a village to plan a wedding, but it only really takes two to fall in love. So you enjoy that part during this process and we will help you look beautiful doing it!
Jacee
Jacee has been a prom and bridal consultant at Freebird since 2022 and has loved every second of it! Though Jacee has lots going on with being in high school and sports, she spends most of her free time here at Freebird. Jacee loves being able to see brides’ glow in a dress that they know is “the one”!
Hope
After spending a little over a year working in the bridal industry I have fallen absolutely in love! Being able to work hand-in-hand with all of our brides is a true blessing. Though some may think our job consists of only playing dress up, it is much more than that. We are able to step into the world of bridal and create an experience that each bride will carry with her forever.
Carsyn
Carsyn started out with Freebird Bridal in 2022 showing off some of our beautiful gowns on our social media. Since then, she has gr0wn into an amazing prom consultant! As one of our younger team members she is able to really connect with our prom clients and find them the perfect dress. Not only does Carsyn love being able to try on all of our new dresses, but she loves seeing girls when they find the perfect prom dress.
Anna
I began sewing around the age of six. My mother was a quilter and I always wanted to follow in her footsteps. Growing up, I would sew and design my own custom clothing as a hobby. This hobby and passion continued through middle school and high school. I took a small break when I started college, but that gave me confidence to start working professionally as a seamstress. Since 2020, I have worked as a bridal consultant and seamstress. Then, while in search of my own dream dress, I came across Freebird Bridal. I fell in love with the store and the amazing staff and have worked here since January.
Denise
I am currently a full-time teacher, but in the past have worked at a bridal shop and thought it was an awesome experience! I can’t wait to begin working at Freebird Bridal in April because I loved the experience I had helping brides find their dream dress for their big day!

Amy says that she has been sewing as long as she can remember. This seamstress has been in the bridal world for over twenty years! Choosing to alter your wedding dress with Amy means you will have one of the best seamstresses in the area at your service and good company while she turns your visions into reality.
